Time For A Change…

Dear Parishioners
After a cold, wet holiday in outback Queensland, a short hospital stay in Canberra and now house arrest to recover from pneumonia, I am slowly gaining strength and getting back to my normal self. (Wine and beer still not tasting the same though!) I would like to thank everyone who sent me well-wishes, prepared meals, bought groceries, fruits, baked delights and wines; these were much appreciated and very much needed. I especially would like to thank Fr Thonn for managing the big workload of the parish in my absence and I am grateful for the parish office team for keeping everything running so smoothly and working under a lot of pressure. You have all helped with my speedy recovery.

Yesterday the Archbishop announced that there will be big changes across the archdiocese over the coming months with a number of parishes being advertised for new priests. Following that announcement, I would like to let you know that Gungahlin has been advertised and once all the deliberations are complete, I will be moving to a different parish (yet to be determined) straight after Christmas.

It was also announced that Fr Tony Percy will step down as Vicar General and Fr Richard Thompson will take on the role in early January 2023.

I appreciate that this will be a time of uncertainty for a short while and I will continue to provide updates about the changes as I receive them.

Yours in Christ
Fr Mark
