Groups & Activities

Families & Children

We are a child-friendly parish.  Whether your children are noisy, restless or grumpy we regard your family’s presence as a gift and not a burden.  You and your family belong.  We want you at Mass!

Children’s Liturgy

Children have their own Liturgy of the Word.  Our children’s liturgy is for children from preschool age to Year 6 and is held on Sundays during the 9:30am Mass.  Children listen to, reflect on, and have activities based on Sunday readings at their level.  The children re-join the congregation after the Prayer of the Faithful.

Children's Choir

We encourage children to get involved in music and ministry from a young age. The choir has performed at parish events such as carols, multicultural evening as well as sing a couple of songs at Mass occasionally. Our children’s choir is suitable for children from ages 5 years old and above.

The choir meets on Saturdays at 10am during school term.

If you would like your child to join, please contact: theivani@holyspiritgungahlin.org.au

Altar Server

At Holy Spirit Parish, we invite children who are Year 3 or above and have received the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Reconciliation to become an Altar Server.

Altar Serving is a ministry where young people assist the Priest at Mass and at other Liturgical ceremonies. Their role enhances the prayerful and orderly celebration of Liturgies and they are an example of active participation to the congregation and especially to other young people.

To register you interest please contact the parish office.

Children and Christmas

Church seating

Some families with young children find it helpful to sit in the school hall side of the church as there is extra space for baby strollers etc.
